Welcome!
Hello! My name is Lara Stables and I am endorsed to teach Visual Arts, grades K-12. For my undergraduate degree, I attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College, where I received my Bachelor's of Art in Studio Art and Religious Studies. I earned my Graduate Certificate from the University of Richmond's Teacher Licensure Program in May 2013 and earned my Masters in Education, with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction in May 2018. I student taught in the Spring Semester of 2013 at Grange Hall Elementary School and Providence Middle School. I taught one class of eighth grade art at Bailey Bridge Middle and Art to grades Pre-K through 12 at The Homestead Academy in Tappahannock, VA for the 2013-2014 school year. I currently teach Art I-IV at Hopewell High School in the City of Hopewell, VA.
I am passionate about what I do and can only hope that my passion will translate through into my students passion as well. My favorite medium is printmaking, but I do love all other forms of art, especially sculpture and painting. In college I specialized in printmaking and displayed eight of my prints in a Senior Show at the Maier Museum of Art, along with other senior studio art majors. I am constantly trying new and different materials and researching new methods to try with students in the classroom.
Attached to this page are my current resume, personal philosophy of education, and a link to my blog. The other pages on this website chronicle the website resources I have used, a few lesson plans and projects I have created, student artwork from my two student teaching placements, and some of my own artwork.
